Alright, here are the results of that poll we had up on the left side of the blog last week:
We asked which trend you wanted to see die the most, of out skinny jeans, leggings/tights as pants, hippie headbands, and super low-rise jeans. And the results are......
Super Low-Rise Jeans, with 37% of the vote, followed by Hippie Headbands and Leggings/Tights as Pants tied for second with 22%, and Skinny Jeans in third with 17%. The overwhelming majority of you are tired of being flashed whaletails (bad visual, bad visual)! Now if only the rest of the world felt as strongly...
Check out our new poll: which spring trend are you must excited for?

Street Style: Crazy Pants and More
I am stressed, and uninspired, and broke. Which tends to lead to less than adorable outfits. So, for some guidance in the midst of gloomy LA (raining! again!), I turned to Fashion Week candids, and now I seriously want to go eat something yellow...possibly lemon sorbet...
Susie Bubble!!! Looking amazing, as always. I love the gigantic black scarf (if I could knit, I would be all over that), the black and white pieces on top, and the bright yellow tapered trousers. The acid yellow works so well with stark colors, and I feel more cheerful already! Here's another take in it in a slightly warmer yellow, again with a black jacket and white top. This marigoldy yellow is probably more flattering, and the matching scarf really ties the whole outfit together. And check out that coat on the right. I'm 99.999% sure it's Larsen Gray, and OMG I want it, and it's another way to work bright yellow into your wardrobe without looking like a raver kid. Always a plus.

The fit of that blazer (left) is impeccable. It hits at exactly the right spot on the waist--I think there's one like this for McQ for Target...may need to check that out. Those are camo shorts in the middle. Camo shorts. I never thought I would like camo, but it looks so cute there...It might be hard to see here, but the girl on the far right has got some amazing layering of different textures and patterns that gives the muted color palette an amazing richness. And I want her coat.
Quick Beauty on the Cheap
As an avid fan of Target and Ulta, I can assure you that some beauty products that are main stream actually work. Shocking, I know. So when your wallet is near empty but you still have to fuel that beauty fire, I suggest roaming the isles of your nearest Target or other basic store. Blogdorf Goodman often posts on steals and deals going on at these stores. For some good examples of what to look for, try products that you might actually use a lot, basics really. Here is a list of my drugstore staples. (Seriously, these puppies get me through the day like no other):

Maybelline Finishing Veil Translucent Loose Powder, $8.99 at ulta.com. After washing your face in the morning and with or without primer (depending on how awake you are, I suppose), top off your look with this baby. Because of the mineral base, this formula really makes your skin look healthy and refined. Just make sure that you brush it in in a circular formation, otherwise you'll look a little funny. Plus, it comes with its own kabuki brush...major steal.

Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Roller, $12.99 at ulta.com. For anyone who's stayed up a little later than they should have (which is pretty much everybody on the planet), waking up the next morning (always happens too soon) to see the nasty sight that is your face knows exactly what I'm talking about. Puffy eyes are never a good look, and it just screams "Yes, I just spent the entire night catching up on a certain t.v. show." You definitely don't want that. While I wouldn't say that this would work all day for people with extremely puffy eyes, it does just enough to make you feel awake, as caffeine is one of the main ingredients. Yeah, it is a little pricey for something so small, but it lasts a long time at least.

Covergirl Outlast Lipstain, $7.99 at ulta.com. After a while, I just got really annoyed with applying and reapplying lip gloss or lipstick throughout the day. So for a few months my lips were bare the majority of the time. Now I found an easy and inexpensive alternative, lip stain. This particular version comes in a few colors, smells fruity, tastes slightly fruity, and works like watercolor for your pout. If the stain is a little too dark for you, apply less and then blend it in with one of your fingers for lighter coverage. This lasts a decent portion of the day (unless you drink a lot of liquids, of course), and the color barely fades. Excellent.

Maybelline Define-a-Lash Lengthening Mascara, $7.79 at ulta.com. So, Megan is really picky when it comes to mascara, but I could almost honestly not care less. To me, all you really need to do it put it on, and if it gets a little clumpy, just swipe it quickly before it dries with your finger or tissue paper or something, presto! But for mascaraphobes out there, have no fear. This beauty does the trick. Not only does it go on easily, but it also lengthens your lashes. (A volumizing version is available too, although I've never tried it.)

Pants!
It happened. I'm all excited for fall, and it's only March. I blame Fashion Week--there's nothing like parades of knits to make you want September all over it. Since these pants are cropped and rolled, they might actually be summer appropriate though...Anyways, we all know pants are back, and these trouser-style pants that taper just slightly towards the cropped/rolled ankle are a great (read: MANDATORY) alternative to the harem pants. Since they're not skin tight or super-tapered, they're much more flattering than skinny jeans, and I think that fact that they look like you stole your boyfriend's pants makes them way sexier than jeans so tight they look painted on. And they're comfier too.
Acne Jeans Gin Pop Chinos, $249 at largarconne.com, Golden Goose Chino Pant w/ Pyramid Stud, $501 at lagarconne.com. These Acne pants you'd have to roll a bit more, but for those of you who are addicted to your skinny jeans, these are a looser, more flattering option. I am in love with these khaki Golden Goose pants (just not the price tag). First off, they're studded, and baggy, and cropped. Drool.

J. Crew Summerweight Chino Cocktail Capri, $79.50 at jcrew.com, Organic Pleat Slim Pant, $157.50 at shopbop.com. How cute are the chinos on the right half of the J. Crew pic? I love how she rolled them to emphasize the cropped length, and how they're just a little wrinkly. These would totally work for summer and they're affordable. Love. The navy trousers are actually organic (always a plus), and I like the subtle volume the pleating gives. The lines on those pants are fantastic.

Madewell Sandstorm Khakis, $115 in Madewell stores, Ash Banyan Banded Wedge Sandals, $212 at shopbop.com. I know. I am addicted to Madewell (but the store near me opened #$&%& omg), and these pants are awesome. They hit both the cargo pant trend and the tapered, baggy trouser trend, but not so overtly that they couldn't become a wardrobe staple (and again, reasonably priced!). And what is that cropped, ankle-baring length perfect for but showing off some superhot heels? Like these 6" dominatrixy wedges (I need them). That means you have to buy pants and some new heels. Geez. Fashion is pain.

Scarjo
While I'm still skeptical about ScarJo's secret marriage to Ryan Reynolds and sunset tattoo, I'm seriously loving her new brown do, leopard print dress, and makeup (the last two presumably Dolce & Gabbana). That auburn hair is a serious contrast to her platinum blonde locks in her D&G ad, so I'm assuming it was a wig. I just can't get over how gorgeous that red brown shade is (she's making me want to go redder) and that fact that her smoky eye matches her hair. It sounds wrong, but it looks so right!

Confession: I love DSquared2
I have to be honest. I usually hate DSquared2. I think they're tacky, and kind of insane (even though I really love their new perfume). But this season...was beautiful. No, really. Some designers are way in the future (Miuccia Prada, Raf Simons, Nicolas Ghesquière), and while their clothes might not be wearable for everyone, they are where fashion is going. And some designers are still fashionable, still on-trend, not quite as directional, but infinitely more wearable. DSquared2 is that second kind of brand, and is completely shameless about it. They really don't care about being the trend-makers. They're just DSquared2, and that's they're amazing. The models were styled like Olsen twins, carried Blackberries, smoked, held Starbucks lattes and mochas, giant sunglasses, and all had giant leather It bags with US Weeklies stuffed inside. I honestly dress a lot like this...maybe that's why I like it...I want all these clothes RIGHT NOW.
Big shades, big scarf, mini dress, and little leather jacket? Yes please. Those rolled up khakis and that cropped jacket together are perfection, and that leopard mini is adorable!
It's kind of like a really wearable version of Missoni: lots of big, loose knits layered on top of each other, but here it's made a little sexier with belts at the waist and body con skirts/dresses underneath. DSquared2 actually opened with these dresses (thinking backwards, I like it) and I can't get over how wildly glamorous it is to throw on a silk gown, top it with a leather belt or jacket, and a big scarf. That juxtaposition of casual and luxe is so DSquared2 and so of the moment (and I need that blue dress).
One of the best things about this show is that you can dupe the look with stuff already in your closet. Take a big cardigan (belted) or a leather jacket, throw it on over a fitted top and a mini, shorts, or rolled up trousers, put on some big shades and a giant scarf, grab a latte, and look awesome. That's math I can live with.

Milan Roundup #5
Milan Roundup #43463476 million trillion (okay, that's a little melodramatic, but that's what it feels like). Today I continued to strongly dislike Dolce and Gabbana (sorry Maudie), be mesmerized by pretty background colors at Versace, and discover that I actually secretly love Pollini (and Jonathan Saunders! who knew?). Enjoy.
All Versace: The background changes colors. So pretty...Versace's on trend with the neon pink, but I like the sparseness of this dress with just the tiny slash of black patent. It keeps the pink from being overwhelming. How adorable is that paillete mini dress? It totally reminds me of Anne Hathaway's Oscar gown, but in a much more wearable and flattering shape. Fish scales never looked so good. And it wouldn't be Versace without sexy goddess gowns--but how gorgeous is that blue?

All Pollini: Pollini was good. Like really good. I was kind of freaking out. There was the same puffed shoulder as Dolce and Gabbana, but done here in much more wearable cropped motorcycle jackets (that skirt and jacket are the perfect proportions). There was a swirly, blown up print slapped on a bunch of mini dresses that was part tattoo print, part swirly abstract waves, and part amazing. It's carefree and colorful, but the dress length keeps it from being cutesy (and I love that fur circle scarf. need).

Fendi, Fendi, Maxmara: I loved the blocked texture dresses at Fendi. The way that they emphasize the waist is really flattering, and the layering of different textures keeps the subdued color palette from being gloomy, and instead makes it really luxurious. How perfect are those pants are Maxmara? I'm in love. And I really like how they styled the wide-leg pants with the cropped blazer and buttoned cardigan underneath--instead of looking suity, it ends up looking totally relaxed and adorable.
