PIerre Hardy for Gap

So we have power. But a manhole (or like 5) really did explode on Friday. There's video. It's ridiculous. I took the coldest shower of my life and spent the night lighting my way with a glowstick. Good times. Long story short, I'm back!

And I want these boots. I've never really paid much attention to the Pierre Hardy for Gap collaboration before, but this particular collection is making me rethink that decision. There are three shoes, costing between $100-$200 and available in select Gap stores starting this week. The heels are cute, but I love those boots. I think the short boots come in tan and grey, and the tall boots come in army green and grey. The short boots have a serious Proenza Schouler vibe (at least to me) and are such a refreshing, actually cute take on the ankle boot. The heel is just high enough, the suede looks rich, and the wrap-around buckle adds a bit of edge. The tall boots might be even more practical for winter since the top is faux-fur lined. You can wear them up or fold them down (even cuter). They're all selling for ridiculous prices on eBay right now, so I'd call into your local store before buying any.

J. Crew Vintage Tall Roadster Boots, $250 at jcrew.com, J. Crew Brewster Leather Boots, starting at $99.99 at ebay.com: When I went to Madewell this week (see below), I saw the cutest pair of equestrian boots. It actually snowed here yesterday, which means it was cold, which means I can no longer where my flippy floppies, which means I want boots. It makes sense in my head. I have the rain boots and Ugg boots covered, so now I'm in the market for a pair of leather, knee-high flat boots. My friend has a great pair from J. Crew, which is where I discovered this first pair of boots. I love the distressed finish and engineer buckles, but I'm not paying $250 for a pair of leather boots (I is brokes). So I turned to eBay, AKA the best thing ever, and scrounged up a couple pairs of J. Crew boots for about $100. This pair is my current fave. It has the same engineer buckle up top, but the overall look is a little more polished and equestrian-inspired, and I think the rich brown might be a more wearable shade overall. Do want.

Gryphon The Military Timeless Trench Coat, $795 at shopbop.com, Alice + Olivia Panel Dress with Crystal Detail, $495 at shopbop.com: This trench is even yummier in person. It has so many little details that make it look so rich--the metallic braid at the cuffs, the faux fur trim at the collar, the satiny lining, the shoulder epaulets. The slightly crinkled twill body works perfectly with the luxe finishings for the perfect casual glam look. Since it's a black trench, you'd get a ton of wear out of it, and it's actually a practical length as far as the whole staying warm thing goes. It's really hard to see the detail on this Alice + Olivia dress here, but it's so gorgeous. A lot of work has gone into this LBD. The body is twisted stretch silk, mesh, and georgette, all layered and wrapped intricately around each other with strands of crystal woven in. You get so much visual interest and textural detail, but in a lovely body-con mini that's not bulky or unflattering, despite all the fabric. The sweetheart neckline adds a touch of girliness, and the exposed zipper at the back is just the icing on the cake. I think this is really, really fab. I'm kind of dying right now.

I just realized that Boston has a Madewell. I LOVE Madewell. Anything affiliated with J. Crew is good in my mind, but Madewell is actually stand alone awesome. They have really awesome blazers and sweaters, some very on-trend jeans, adorable equestrian boots, and a giant assortment of colorful scarves! I wasn't going to buy anything, but then I saw these washed wool scarves, and they were only $30, and I caved. They do come in purple and green and blue and festive colors, but I got off white because I realized that I don't have any winter white in my wardrobe. It's actually off white (it's closer to the color in the second pic), but it's gigantic (like 3x3 feet), and since it's wool, it's warm, but it's still very light and not at all bulky. I love the organic looking fringed edges and how voluptuous it is. Honestly, it's just as nice as my Love Quotes scarf, but at less than half the price. Wardrobe staple? I think yes.
