All Miu Miu. Miu Miu! #(*&$#%#$&#(*& love. Miuccia Prada is a fashion visionary. She does amazing stuff at Prada, but I'm partial to Miu Miu because it's still fashion forward and still out there like Prada, but it's significantly more wearable. Her fascination with underwear was back this season, but it seemed a little more relevant this time. People are going back to the basics (the very, very basics). Giant fur stole-scarfs replaced shirts, dresses were left backless with bras exposed, coats were worn as dresses. Forgetting articles of clothing may not be the most practical everyday look, but those are some pretty adorable scarves. There was no shortage of glamour either--the Miu Miu girl this season is going to be a femme fatale. Just look at those coats. Very Italian Hitchcock heroine. The things I'm taking away from this show are underwear detailing (my pick is bustier-inspired dresses and sheers), that touches of faux fur can completely elevate an outfit, and that a wide-collared coat works with anything.
Roland Mouret, Louis Vuitton, Louis Vuitton. Roland Mouret did what he does best: exquisitely tailored, clean pieces. I'm seriously loving this dress. The fitted bodice, the boat-neck, the tulip skirt; it's all so simple and nothing mindblowing, but the combined look is so fresh and so new. Buy one of these dresses and you'll be wearing it forever. Over at Louis Vuitton the look was classic Parisian, with gigantic updos and a dash of French-girl confidence. First, the shoes. I love those giant plaform, ballerina gone wrong heels. Perfection. As for the clothes, there were the sweeter looks with more understated drama, like this sheer top and amazing ruffle detailed skirt (in nude, a big trend for spring/fall), and then the more over the top looks, most with dramatic sleeves and shoulders. So basically, go for nudes, subtle but rich details, and exaggerated shoulders.
